Georg von der Gabelentz (writer)
Georg von der Gabelentz (born March 1, 1868 in Lemnitz , † September 10, 1940 in Münchenbernsdorf ) was a German entertainment writer.
He came from the noble family von der Gabelentz and was born as the eldest son of Hans Albert von der Gabelentz (since 1859 Gabelentz-Linsingen) on the manor Lemnitz. After graduating from high school, he studied in Lausanne and Leipzig , but then decided to pursue a military career. In 1892 he was cultural attaché at the German embassy in Rome . In 1907 he took his leave, at the time with the rank of major. Reactivated during World War I, he served as an adjutant in the War Department . After 1918 he was deputy general director at the Saxon State Theater in Leipzig for two years . In addition, his father had died in 1894 and Gabelentz had been the manager of the Gera family's inheritance ever since . From 1904 onwards he published numerous novels and short stories, but critics relegated them to the realm of colportage .
He was the older brother of the art historian Hans von der Gabelentz .
