George DeTitta Sr.

George DeTitta Sr. (born November 26, 1930 ) is a production designer .

Life

DeTitta began his career in the film staff in 1965 while filming the comedy film Thousand Clowns , where he remained in the credits without naming his name. From the beginning of the 1970s he began working regularly in film and worked on, among others, A man sees red and The three days of the Condor with. In the late 1970s he worked on Saturday Night Fever and Hair .

In 1981 he worked on Miloš Forman's drama Ragtime for the first time together with his son George DeTitta Jr. For this he received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Production Design in 1982 , but this year the award went to Raiders of the Lost Ark . By 1986 he worked on four more feature films with his son, including Sidney Lumet's Das Körderspiel and John Landis ' Die Glücksritter . Another collaboration with his son was the television film A Doctor's Story by Peter Levin in 1984; this was also the only television engagement in his career.
