George Patrick Forsyth Sommer (born June 20, 1982 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Peruvian football goalkeeper . He currently plays for Alianza Lima in Peru . In addition to Peruvian citizenship, Forsyth also has a German and Venezuelan passport. He is the son of a German mother and a Peruvian diplomat, which explains the birthplace of Caracas. He also has Scottish roots.

In Peru it is also called "El Blanco" or "El Aleman".

Club career

In the 2002/2003 season he played after his move from Alianza Lima for the second team of Borussia Dortmund and was the third goalkeeper of the BVB (behind Jens Lehmann and Roman Weidenfeller ).

With Alianza Lima he has already won two Peruvian championships (2004 and 2006) and was also voted best goalkeeper in Peru in 2006.

After these successes, the interest of foreign clubs in him increased again. In the summer of 2007 he signed a three-year contract with the Italian Serie A club Atalanta Bergamo . There he could not prevail against Ferdinando Coppola on loan from AC Milan . One reason was an injury that put him out of action from September to November. After a year he returned to Alianza Lima.

National team career

Forsyth was nominated for the Peruvian national soccer team in early 2007 . He made his debut on March 24, 2007 in the friendly against Japan , when he came on after half-time for Juan Ángel Flores . He was also part of Peru's squad in the 2007 Copa America . However, he has not been nominated since 2008.
