George Freeman (musician)
George Freeman (* 10. April 1927 in Chicago ) is an American jazz - guitarist and tenor saxophonist of the hard bop and soul jazz .
Freeman started his career in 1950 at a gig in Washington, DC with Charlie Parker , later in the band of Gene Ammons around 1960 , to be heard on the albums You Talk that talk and The Black Cat . He also plays with Richard "Groove" Holmes , Buddy Rich and Jimmy McGriff . In 1969 his first album was created under his own name, "Birth Sign" on the Delmark Records label , in which his brother Von Freeman was also involved. After it had become quiet for a while, he returned to the jazz scene in the mid-1990s and recorded three albums, on which his brother again took part.
