George Hardy (born October 16, 1954 in Alexander City , Alabama ) is an American actor and dentist . He became better known through the role of Michael Waits in the cult film Troll 2 . His German dubbing voice comes from Bodo Wolf .

Troll 2

In 1986, Hardy applied as an extra in a horror film that was overseen by "smoking Italians who spoke no word of English." Finally, the Italian B-movie director Claudio Fragasso cast him for the lead role in his film Goblin, which was shot in Morgan, Utah. According to Hardy, communication with Fragasso was limited to the sentences “You have good energy! You have good energy! '” , And due to the language barrier, translation errors were common, which, in addition to the film's cheap special effects, led to an involuntary comedy. To promote sales, Goblin was sold under the title Troll 2 as a sequel to the Sonny Bono film Troll from 1986, although the two films have nothing to do with each other in terms of content; this also explains the absence of trolls in the film. When Troll 2 was released on video cassette in 1990, Hardy wanted to sink into the ground in shame and was teased by those around him. Hardy turned his back on acting and opened a dental office in his hometown.

Career

The turning point came when Troll 2 was released on DVD in 2003 together with Troll . Because of the involuntary comedy, it was enthusiastically received by bloggers and became a cult. In April 2006, the first official "Troll 2 Reunion" took place in Provo, Utah, in front of several hundred fans, and since then packed "Troll 2 parties" with several actors have been celebrated in New York , Boston , Seattle and other places who asked questions and watched the film with the fans. With his Troll 2 film son Michael Stephenson, Hardy made the documentary Best Worst Movie in 2009 , which deals with the makers and contributors of Troll 2 .

After the success of Best Worst Movie , Hardy reactivated his acting career and got involved in several projects. In his latest film Goblin - That's Real Troll he plays the role of Michael Waits again alongside Eva Habermann , Jiří Lábus and Katy Karrenbauer . This created Goblin - This is really Troll like a film crossover , since the film draws on the experiences of Michael Waits and mixed it with the story; so it is the German sequel to Troll 2 . The film was released in Baden-Baden in October 2019 .

George Hardy is divorced and has two daughters.
