George Koenig

George Francis Koenig ( December 2, 1911 - August 20, 1999 ) was an American jazz musician ( alto saxophone , clarinet , flute ) of the swing era.

Live and act

From the mid-1930s Koenig played in the swing orchestras of Lionel Hampton (with whom the first recordings were made in 1937), Benny Goodman (1937-38), Artie Shaw (1938), Bob Crosby (1939/40) and Will Bradley (1941 / 42). At Goodman's performance at Carnegie Hall , he played in the reed section alongside Babe Russin , Hymie Schertzer and Arthur Rollini . In the field of jazz he was involved in 113 recording sessions between 1937 and 1946, apart from the aforementioned also with Red Norvo , Teddy Powell , The Quintones / Buck Ram's Orchestra and most recently with Louis Armstrong / Bob Haggart .
