George Palliparampil

George Palliparampil SDB (born May 10, 1954 in Thattarathatta , Kottayam, State of Kerala , India ) is an Indian religious priest and first Roman Catholic bishop of the Miao diocese .

Life

George Palliparambil attended St. Augustine's High School in Karimkunnam in the Diocese of Kottayam and then the Minor Seminary of the Salesians in Shillong and St. Anthony's College also in Shillong.

He then entered the novitiate of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Sunny Side (Shillong) in 1973 . He studied philosophy at the Salesian College in Sonada (Darjeeling, West Bengal) and theology at the Sacred Heart College in Shillong. He was ordained a priest on December 20, 1982 .

Afterwards he was rector of the Bosco Bible School in Tinsukia (1983/1994), pastor in Bordura (Arunachal Pradesh) (1994/1997), representative of the Literature Center in Khonsa and coordinator of the mission for the eastern part of the state of Arunachal Pradesh (1997/2000), Rector of the Don Bosco School in Kheti (2000/2004) and Rector of the Don Bosco School in Dibrugarh.

With the establishment of the diocese of Miao from the mother diocese of Dibrugarh in the state of Assam on December 7, 2005, he was appointed its first bishop on the same day. His episcopal ordination took place on February 26, 2006 by the Archbishop of Guwahati , Thomas Menamparampil , co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Imphal , Joseph Mittathany , and the Bishop of Tezpur , Robert Kerketta .
