Robert Kerketta

Robert Kerketta SDB (born October 22, 1932 in Kacharigaon , Assam ; according to another source Amadanga ; † December 22, 2018 in Tezpur ) was an Indian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Tezpur .

Life

Kerketta made her first religious vows on May 24, 1951 in Yercaud , Salem district , in the religious community of the Salesians of Don Bosco . After his philosophical and theological studies, he was ordained a priest on February 11, 1963 in Turin .

On May 21, 1970 Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Dibrugarh . The Archbishop of Shillong-Guwahati , Hubert D 'Rosario SDB, donated him episcopal ordination on October 18 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Tezpur, Orestes Marengo SDB, and his successor Joseph Mittathany . His episcopal coat of arms was: "Trust in God and do good".

On October 24, 1980, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tezpur. The inauguration took place on January 31, 1981. His age-related resignation was on December 3, 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. accepted.
