George Radcliffe (born June 24, 1877 in Lathom , † 1932 ) was an English football player .

Career

Radcliffe came to Newton Heath in November 1898 and appeared for the club's first team for the first time on January 7, 1899 in a 2-0 win in a friendly against local rivals Manchester City , where he scored the opening goal. For his only appearance in the Football League Second Division , he came a few months later: on April 12, 1899, he was involved in a 5-0 home win against Luton Town on the right winger , but remained the only player in the storm line Radcliffe - Billy Morgan - Neddy Lee - Matthew Gillespie - Joseph Cassidy without a goal of his own.

In the summer break he left the club again, at the beginning of September 1899 he appeared for Newton Heath's ambitious league competitor New Brighton Tower in two qualifying rounds for the FA Cup when clear victories against local amateur teams came in appearance. He was used as a substitute for Tommy Leigh , but in the further course of the season he was no longer used at New Brighton.
