George Rudolf Peterßen

George Rudolf Peterßen (also Peterssen ) (born March 25, 1826 in Osnabrück ; † February 27, 1903 in Leipzig ) was President of the Senate at the Imperial Court .

Life

Born the son of a captain, he attended the Protestant grammar school in his hometown. In 1845 he began to study law in Bonn. Here he joined the Alemannia fraternity . After three semesters, he interrupted his studies for a year due to illness. In the summer semester of 1848 he went to Göttingen and continued his studies there. He was one of the founders of the Hannovera fraternity .

In 1850 he passed the state examination with the grade “excellent!” And after being sworn in, he became an official auditor for the city of Osnabrück, but shortly afterwards switched to the judicial service of the Kingdom of Hanover . In 1853 he was appointed court assessor. From 1854 to 1856 he was a laborer in the Hanoverian Ministry of Justice; at the same time he was a member of the Judicial Examination Commission. In 1859 he served as a police assessor in Hanover, from 1860 as a higher court assessor in Verden. In 1862 Peterßen became secretary at the German Civil Procedure Commission. Promoted to the High Court Council in Hanover in 1865, he was entrusted with the representation of the Kingdom of Hanover in the German Civil Procedure Commission. After the annexation by Prussia, he was accepted into the Prussian judicial service. In 1868 he came to Berlin as a councilor to the Higher Appeal Court, which was created for the countries annexed in 1866. When the Higher Appeal Court was absorbed into the Prussian Upper Tribunal in 1874 , he was appointed Upper Tribunal Councilor . From 1873 to 1879 he was a member of the Prussian Judicial Examination Commission.

In 1879 he came to the Imperial Court. He was in the III. Civil Senate active. In January 1891 he was appointed Senate President of the VI. Civil Senate . In October he returned as Senate President in the III. Civil Senate back. Shortly before his retirement in 1902 he was again President of the Senate of the VI. Civil Senate.
