George Louis Elliot Thorne (* 4. January 1993 in Chatham ) is an English footballer on the position of a midfield player in the service of Derby County .

Career

Youth and club career

Thorne was accepted into the youth department of West Bromwich Albion in 2004 at the age of eleven, where he went through all the youth teams and is now active in the U-18 academy team. After numerous good performances in the youth and reserve area, he received his first professional contract in early 2010.

On November 28, 2009, Thorne made his professional debut in a 4-0 away win over Sheffield Wednesday at the age of 16 years and 328 days , when he came on in the 87th minute for the double goal scorer and assistant Simon Cox . He was the youngest player since Bobby Hope in 1960 who came to a professional game for the Albions.

National team

Thorne made the acquaintance of the U-16 national team of England, for which he was nominated for the first time on October 23, 2008. In his debut game against the Welsh U-16 national team on October 31, 2008, he came on in the 58th minute and gave Benik Afobes ( Arsenal youth FC ) the winning goal in the 85th minute when the score was 0-0 . Under the U-16 national coach Kenny Swain , he won the Victory Shield of 2008 with three wins from three games and a goal difference of 9-0 goals .

With the English U-17 national team, he won the U-17 European Championship in Liechtenstein in 2010 . He was used in all five games during the tournament.
