George Valiamattam

George Valiamattam (born September 16, 1938 in Kodencherry ) is an Indian clergyman and retired Archbishop of Tellicherry .

Life

George Valiamattam was ordained a priest on November 30, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tellicherry on February 18, 1989. The episcopal ordination donated to him the archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly , Antony Padiyara , on May 1st of the same year; Co- consecrators were Joseph Powathil , Archbishop of Changanacherry , and Sebastian Valloppilly , Bishop of Tellicherry.

With the elevation to the archbishopric on May 18, 1995 he was appointed Archbishop of Tellicherry.

On August 29, 2014, the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church accepted his age-related resignation.
