George Wilhelm von Schöning

George Wilhelm von Schöning (* 1700 ; † 1745 in Gralow ) was a Prussian district administrator . From 1730 to 1744 he was in charge of the Landsberger Kreis in Neumark .

He came from the Pomeranian-Neumark noble family von Schöning and was the son of the landowner and district administrator Friedrich Wilhelm von Schöning (* 1660; † 1730). His mother Anna Barbara († 1721) was born von Schmalenberg and widowed von der Marwitz . From 1716 he and his younger brother attended the Latina of the Francke Foundations in Halle.

Around 1729 George Wilhelm von Schöning was added to his father's office as district administrator of the Landsberg district as an adjunct . When he died in 1730, he became the new district administrator. In 1744 he took his leave; in office he was followed by Hans Wotislaw von Wobeser .

When he inherited the estate after his father's death in 1731, he received the Gralow estate in the Landsberger district, that is, Schöning's share of 2/5. In Gralow he had a stately home built. He suffered from melancholy and died in 1745.

George Wilhelm von Schöning was married to Johanne Juliane Sophie von Lepel, a daughter of Major General Otto Gustav von Lepel , Governor of Küstrin. The marriage remained childless. His widow married Major General Hans Otto von Treskow , Chief of Infantry Regiment No. 8 , in 1747 .
