Hans Wilhelm von Schöning

Hans Wilhelm von Schöning , also Hans von Schöning (* 1786 in Morrn , Landsberger Kreis ; † 1842 in Jahnsfelde , Landsberger Kreis) was a Prussian district administrator . From 1818 to 1836 he was in charge of the Züllichau-Schwiebuser district in the province of Brandenburg .

He came from the Pomeranian noble von Schöning family . His parents were Christian Stephan von Schöning (* 1752, † 1802), landowner and district administrator of the Landsberger Kreis, and his wife Albertine Juliane Therese Tugendreich († 1844), daughter of Lieutenant General Ehrenreich Wilhelm Gottlieb von Besser . The parents divorced in 1796. He had several siblings; his younger brother Kurd von Schöning (* 1789, † 1859) became major general and court marshal of Prince Carl of Prussia.

Schöning joined the Prussian Army and began working as a cadet in Berlin in 1798 . In 1801 he became a flag junior in the Möllendorf regiment . In 1805 he, meanwhile ensign , was transferred to the Irwing Dragoon Regiment , with which he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt in 1806 . In 1811 he took his leave.

Schöning married Florentine Wagener in 1811, daughter of a judicial councilor. In 1812 he took over the Schmöllen estate in the Züllichau-Schwiebuser district from his mother-in-law; in the same year he was elected district deputy . During the Wars of Liberation he rejoined the army in 1813 and fought in the Neumärk Dragoon Regiment . He was awarded the Iron Cross for his work in the cavalry battle near Liebertwolkwitz . After the war he took his leave as Rittmeister .

In 1818 Schöning was elected district administrator of the Züllichau-Schwiebuser district . In 1820 he also became director of the Land-Feuer-Sozietät.

In 1819 he took over the Jahnsfelde estate in the Landsberger district from his aunt . From 1827 he managed Jahnsfelde himself; he died here in 1842.

Hans Wilhelm von Schöning had five daughters. The daughter Hildegard von Schöning (* 1818) married Count Otto Werner von der Schulenburg, the younger son of the landlord, Count Albrecht von der Schulenburg .

Together with his brother Kurd von Schöning , he published a family story in 1830 under the title Historical News of the von Schöning family and their estates .
