Christian Stephan von Schöning

Christian Stephan von Schöning , also Stephan Christian von Schöning , (born August 27, 1751 in Magdeburg , † October 30, 1802 in Morrn ) was a Prussian district administrator . From 1792 until his death he was in charge of the Landsberger Kreis .

Life

Christian Stephan von Schöning was a son of the landowner and district deputy Hans Eberhardt von Schöning († 1785). The von Schöning family is one of the oldest noble families in Pomerania.

First he attended the Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin and then studied law at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) and from 1771 at the University of Halle . In 1773 he joined the Prussian army . He served in the Rohrschen Fusilier Regiment established in 1773 and took part in the Bavarian Succession War with them. He later worked as a recruiting officer in Aachen.

In 1783 he retired from the army to support his father in the economy. When he inherited the estate after his father's death in 1785, he received the Morrn estate in the Landsberger district. As a lord of the manor, he laid out the farm and the Johannswunsch colony here .

In Landsberger circle in the Neumark , he worked from 1786 as Kreisdeputierter. In 1792 he was elected to succeed by Christian Wilhelm von Beerfelde the district selected the circle. He held the office until his death in 1802; Christian Ludwig Adolph von Rhade followed him in office .

family

Christian Stephan von Schöning was married to Albertine von Besser, a daughter of Lieutenant General Ehrenreich Wilhelm Gottlieb von Besser . Several children emerged from the marriage, including Hans Wilhelm von Schöning (* 1786), district administrator of the Züllichau-Schwiebuser district, and Kurd Wolfgang von Schöning (* 1789; † 1859), major general, court marshal and military writer. His wife divorced him in 1796.
