Georges Callot
Georges Callot (* 1857 in Paris ; † June 23, 1903 ) was a French genre, nude and history painter.
Callot studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and then at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris with Louis-Émile Adan .
From 1877 Callot exhibited regularly at the Salon de Paris and since 1890 as a member of the Sociiété nationale des beaux-arts. In 1901 he showed his works at the Royal Academy in London.
Callot was a teacher and co-founder of the Académie Delecluse in the bohemian district of Montparnasse. Callot received several awards for his work, including the Order of the Knight of the Legion of Honor .
Callot was influenced by the works, especially the files of Gustave Courbet .
In addition to painting easel, Callot also dealt with interior decoration. He created the painting “La Philosophie” for the Paris City Hall.
Callot took a trip from Le Havre with the transatlantic passenger steamer " La Bretagne " and arrived in New York on November 27, 1893.
