Georges Oltramare
Georges Oltramare (born April 17, 1896 in Geneva ; † August 16, 1960 there ) was a Swiss politician ( Union nationale ).
biography
Oltramare conducted law studies in Geneva, worked as a tax collector in Bucharest , as a journalist and in the press service of the League of Nations . He wrote for the Geneva newspaper La Suisse and was editor of the satirical magazine Le Pilori from 1923 until it was banned in 1940 . In 1927 he received the Welti Prize of 3000 francs for his novel Don Juan ou la solitude . A political event he organized led to the 1932 riots in Geneva . From 1933 to 1936 he was a founder of the Union nationale on the Geneva Grand Council .
From 1936 to 1938, Oltramare visited Benito Mussolini more than ten times . In 1940 he settled in occupied Paris , where he initially took over the management of a newspaper published by the German occupying forces and then worked on the radio and for other newspapers. In 1944 he fled to Sigmaringen with the Vichy government . On April 21, 1945 he was arrested by the Allies and extradited to Switzerland.
The right-wing extremist Oltramare was sentenced to three years in prison by the federal court in 1947 for offenses against the independence of Switzerland ; In 1950, a court in Paris sentenced him to death in absentia for collaboration .

His brother André Oltramare was a social democratic politician and life partner of the philosopher Jeanne Hersch .
