Georgi Kakojewitsch Gelaschwili ( Russian Георгий Какоевич Гелашвили ; born August 30, 1983 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

Georgi Gelashvili began his career in 1999 with the second team of the HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the third Russian division . After another stint in the lower Russian leagues at Kasachmys Satpajew , he returned to Chelyabinsk in 2006. Gelashvili has been under contract with his next club, Lokomotive Yaroslavl , since 2008. In 2010 he moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk within the KHL . At Metallurg he was a regular goalkeeper between 2010 and 2012, but lost this status to Ari Ahonen during the 2012/13 season . Therefore, his contract was not renewed in May 2013 and Gelashvili moved to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod within the KHL . There he lost his regular place first to Wital Kowal and after his departure to Iwan Kassutin .

In December 2014 he and Pawel Walentenko were exchanged for Mikhail Birjukow and Alexei Pepeljajew from HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk .
