Alexei Gennadjewitsch Pepeljajew ( Russian Алексей Геннадьевич Пепеляев ; born June 16, 1984 in Barnaul , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Buran Voronezh from the Wysschaja Hockey League since August 2018 .
Career
Alexei Pepeljajew began his career as a professional ice hockey player at Metallurg Novokuznetsk , for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 2001 to 2004 . The defender then played for Motor Barnaul in the second-rate Vysschaya League for a year before returning to his ex-club from Novokuznetsk. In the middle of the 2006/07 season he moved from there to league rivals Krylja Sowetow Moscow from the Super League. He started the 2007/08 season at HK Lada Tolyatti , but was also on the ice for the second division Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg and HK Metschel Chelyabinsk later in the season .
In the summer of 2008 Pepeljajew signed with HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk from the Wysschaja Liga, with which he was second division champion in the following two years and in 2010 also rose to the Continental Hockey League .
In December 2014, he and Mikhail Olegowitsch Biryukov were exchanged for Georgi Gelashvili and Pavel Walentenko from Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
