Career
Mikhail Birjukow began his career in 2001 with the second team of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the third Russian division. After further stations in the lower Russian leagues, he was committed in 2007 by the Russian first division club HK MWD Balaschicha . At his next club HK Dynamo Moscow Biryukov was under contract since 2009. In 2010 he moved within the KHL to HK Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk , where he was the goalkeeper for the next four years.

In January 2014 he was loaned to HK CSKA Moscow until the end of the season, as HK Ugra no longer had a chance of reaching the play-offs and this saved personnel costs. After the end of the season he returned to HK Ugra and completed 17 other KHL games for the club, where he was partially ousted by Szjapan Haratscheuskich . With the commitment of Barry breast he finally lost his position as a goalkeeper to this. In December 2014 he and Alexei Pepeljajew were exchanged for Georgi Gelashvili and Pawel Walentenko from Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
From May 2017 Biryukov was under contract with HK Vitjas and completed 15 KHL games for the knights before he was released in November of the same year and then ended his career. Since then he has been the goalkeeping coach at Buran Voronezh .
International
Biryukov played with the Russian national team at the 2008 World Cup and became world champion, where he completed three games. As a result, he came regularly to international appearances as part of the Euro Hockey Tour , but was initially no longer nominated for world championships.
