Gephyra. Journal for the Ancient History and Cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean ; the Greek word gephyra means bridge ) is an ancient scholarly journal exploring Asia Minor as a geographical as well as historical area.

Archaeological, epigraphic , historical and numismatic articles, commented and evaluated material as well as historical reflections and essays are published. A related series of monographs, Monographs on Gephyra , began with a work on an important monument, the Stadiasmus Patarensis . In the same area, however, the epigraphic journal Epigraphica Anatolica presents more specific articles .

history

The magazine was founded in 2004 by Johannes Nollé and Sencer Şahin in Istanbul and was published by Ege Yayınları until 2008 , then in 2009 by the Munich publishing house Biering & Brinkmann and since 2010 by Arkeoloji ve Sanat Yayınları . The Scientific Advisory Board includes Angelos Chaniotis , Denis Feissel , Christian Marek , Stephen Mitchell , Kent J. Rigsby and Emmanouel Voutiras .
