Gerald Eugene Wilkerson (born October 21, 1939 in Des Moines ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Los Angeles .

Life

The Archbishop of Los Angeles, James Francis Aloysius Cardinal McIntyre , ordained him a priest on January 5, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Los Angeles and titular bishop of Vincennes on November 5, 1997 . The Archbishop of Los Angeles, Roger Michael Cardinal Mahony , donated him episcopal ordination on January 21 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were Michael Patrick Driscoll , Auxiliary Bishop in Orange, California , and Joseph Martin Sartoris , Auxiliary Bishop in Los Angeles.

On July 21, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.

From July 20, 2018 to January 29, 2019, he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Monterey in California during the Sedis vacancy .
