Gerald Vincent McDevitt (born February 23, 1917 in Philadelphia , USA ; † September 29, 1980 ) was auxiliary bishop in Philadelphia .
Life
Gerald Vincent McDevitt received on 30 May 1942, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On June 22, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . the titular bishop of Tigias and auxiliary bishop in Philadelphia. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Egidio Vagnozzi , ordained him episcopal on August 1 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Philadelphia, Francis James Furey , and the bishop of Altoona-Johnstown , Joseph Carroll McCormick .
