Gerald Zeiner (born June 28, 1988 in Krems ) is an Austrian handball player .
Born in Krems, he was able to gain international experience at the age of 17 in the 2005/06 season with UHK Krems in the EHF Challenge Cup , in which the team was eliminated in the round of 16 against RK Zagreb . A year later he even took part in the EHF Cup with the Kremsers , but they did not get past the second round. In 2008 he took part again in the Challenge Cup and this time even reached the quarter-finals. With the 2009/10 season, the 1.90 meter tall player moved to UHC Tulln for one season , from where he moved on to Union Leoben .
Since the 2013/14 season, Zeiner has been playing for Alpla HC Hard , with which he was able to win the championship and the ÖHB Cup in the first season . He also took part with Hard in the qualifying round for the EHF Champions League and the EHF Cup. In 2015 and 2017, his contract in Vorarlberg was extended for another two years.
In 2020 Zeiner signed a contract with Handball Tirol and will run for the Tiroleans from the 2020/21 season .
At the European handball championship 2020 , Zeiner and the Austrian national team achieved their best position so far at a European championship with a final eighth place.
