Geraldo Scarpone Caporale

Geraldo D. Joseph Scarpone Caporale OFM (born October 1, 1928 in Watertown ; † October 29, 2016 ) was an American religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Comayagua , Honduras.

Life

Geraldo Scarpone Caporale joined the religious community in the Franciscan and received on 24 June 1956, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Comayagua on January 15, 1979 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua and Honduras , Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo Higuera , donated him episcopal ordination on February 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Héctor Enrique Santos Hernández SDB, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa , and Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga SDB , Auxiliary Bishop in Tegucigalpa.

With the death of Bernardino N. Mazzarellas OFM on May 30, 1979, he succeeded him as Bishop of Comayagua. On May 21, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
