Jack H. McDonald (born June 28, 1932 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American politician . Between 1967 and 1973 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jack McDonald attended the public schools in his home country and then studied at Wayne State University . In 1960 he headed the Wayne County Federal Census Bureau . In 1961, 1963 and 1964 McDonald was elected mayor in Redford Township . In 1965 he was District Administrator in Wayne County. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1967 he was a member of their working group for urban development planning.

In the 1966 congressional election , McDonald was elected to the 19th constituency of Michigan in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Democrat Billie S. Farnum on January 3, 1967 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1973 . These were shaped by the events of the Vietnam War . In 1972 he lost in his party's primary election to William Broomfield , who succeeded him in Congress on January 3, 1973. After leaving the US House of Representatives, Jack McDonald worked as a consultant and lobbyist.
