John JH "Joe" Schwarz (born November 15, 1937 in Battle Creek , Michigan ) is an American politician . Between 2005 and 2007 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joe Schwarz attended Battle Creek Central High School and then studied at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor until 1959 . After a subsequent medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit and his license as a doctor in 1964, he began to practice in his new profession. Between 1965 and 1967 he served in the US Navy medical service . From 1968 to 1970, Schwarz worked for the CIA .

Politically, Schwarz joined the Republican Party . From 1979 to 1985 he was a city councilor in Battle Creek; between 1985 and 1987 he was mayor of this place. He served in the Michigan Senate from 1987 to 2002 . In 1992 he ran for the first time, but without success, for the Congress. In the 2004 elections , Schwarz was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Michigan , where he succeeded Nick H. Smith on January 3, 2005 . Since he was not nominated for re-election by his party for the 2006 elections, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until January 3, 2007 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, he returned to work as a medical professional. He was also part of a commission of inquiry that was to investigate the conditions in the Walter Reed Military Hospital on behalf of the Ministry of Defense . Joe Schwarz is divorced and lives in Battle Creek, Michigan.
