Carl Pursell

Carl Duane Pursell (born December 19, 1932 in Imlay City , Lapeer County , Michigan , † June 11, 2009 in Plymouth , Michigan) was an American politician .

Pursell graduated from high school in 1951 . He then studied at Eastern Michigan University , where he received his bachelor's degree in 1957 . From 1957 to 1959 he served in the United States Army . Pursell now attended Eastern Michigan University again and received his master's degree there in 1962 . In 1970 he was elected a Republican to the Michigan Senate, where he was a Senator from 1971 to 1977. While Pursells second legislative period he was in the congressional elections in 1976 in the United States House of Representatives voted and represented there on 3 January 1977 to 3 January 1993 State of Michigan. In the elections to the 103rd  Congress in 1992, he renounced another candidacy. Before his political career, Pursell worked as a teacher and businessman. He now spent his old age in Plymouth, Michigan, where he died in June 2009 at the age of 76. Pursell was married and had three children, two sons and a daughter.
