Frank W. Wheeler

Frank Willis Wheeler (born March 2, 1853 in Chaumont , New York , †  August 9, 1921 in Saginaw , Michigan ) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Wheeler attended the public schools in his home country. In 1864 he moved to East Saginaw , Michigan with his parents . There he continued his education at Saginaw High School and Ypsilanti State Normal School . After finishing school, he worked in shipbuilding. In 1876 he moved to West Saginaw, where he became director of the Saginaw River Tug Association . In the following years he continued to work in shipbuilding.

Politically, Wheeler was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1888 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the tenth constituency of Michigan , where he succeeded Spencer O. Fisher on March 4, 1889 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1890, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1891 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Wheeler resumed his previous shipbuilding activities. Between 1899 and 1917 he lived in Detroit , before returning to Saginaw, where he Saginaw Shipbuilding Co. founded. Frank Wheeler died in Saginaw on August 9, 1921 and was buried in Bay City .
