Chaumont is a village in Jefferson County in the US state of New York . The place has 624 inhabitants on an area of two square kilometers. It lies at a height of 89 meters.

The village is located in the north of the state of New York on the east bank of Lake Ontario , on the south bank of the confluence of the Chaumont River , which flows into the Chaumont Bay . On the opposite bank, about 200 meters as the crow flies and connected to Chaumont by a bridge over the river, lies the village of Lyme Village . The terrain is characterized by a ground moraine from the Ice Age ; accordingly, there are no noteworthy surveys to be found.
