Francis O. Lindquist

Francis Oscar Lindquist (born September 27, 1869 in Marinette , Wisconsin , †  September 25, 1924 in Grand Rapids , Michigan ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Francis Lindquist attended the public schools in his home country. In 1904, he moved to Greenville , Michigan, where he worked in clothing mail order and crafts. Eleven years later, in 1915, Lindquist moved on to Grand Rapids. There he became president of Canada Mills Co. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1912 congressional elections he was elected to the Eleventh constituency of Michigan in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Francis H. Dodds on March 4, 1913 . Since he was not nominated for re-election by his party in 1914, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1915 . During this time the 16th and 17th amendments came into force.

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Lindquist returned to the mail order business. He later moved to Greenville, where he ran a mail order correspondence school. In 1922 he competed unsuccessfully to return to Congress. Francis Lindquist died in Grand Rapids on September 25, 1924 and was buried in Greenville.
