Andrew J. Transue

Andrew Jackson Transue (born January 12, 1903 in Clarksville , Ionia County , Michigan , †  June 24, 1995 in Flint , Michigan) was an American politician . Between 1937 and 1939 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Life

Andrew Transue attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree at the Detroit College of Law and his admission as a lawyer in 1926, he began to work in Detroit and Flint in his new profession. From 1933 to 1937 he was a prosecutor in Genesee County .

Politically, Transue was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1936 congressional elections he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of Michigan , where he succeeded Republican William W. Blackney on January 3, 1937 . Since he lost to Blackney in the subsequent elections in 1938, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1939 , during which further New Deal laws were passed by the federal government.

After leaving the House of Representatives, Andrew Transue withdrew from politics. In the following decades he practiced again as a lawyer in Flint, where he died on June 24, 1995.
