William H. Frankhauser

William Horace Frankhauser (born March 5, 1863 in Wood County , Ohio , †  May 9, 1921 in Battle Creek , Michigan ) was an American politician . In 1921 he represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1875, William Frankhauser moved with his parents to Monroe , Michigan, where he attended public schools. He then studied at Michigan State Normal School in Ypsilanti and Oberlin College in Ohio. He then taught as a teacher for a few years. After studying law and his admission as a lawyer in 1891, he began to work in Hillsdale in his new profession. Between 1896 and 1903 he served as a district attorney in Hillsdale County there .

Politically, Frankhauser was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1920 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Michigan , where he succeeded John MC Smith on March 4, 1921 . At this point Frankhauser was already in poor health. He was unable to attend a congressional session and was a patient in a Battle Creek hospital. There he committed suicide on May 9, 1921. After a by-election, his mandate fell back to his predecessor John Smith.
