Candice S. Miller (born May 7, 1954 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American politician and Commissioner of Public Works for Macomb County since January 1, 2017 . Between 2003 and 2016 she represented the area of ​​the state of Michigan, which lies between Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron, down to northern Macomb County (thus the southernmost area of ​​the district is on the edge of the Detroit metropolitan area ) in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Candice Miller attended Lake Shore High School and then Macomb Community College in Warren . She also graduated from the Northwood Institute , where she studied Business Management . Politically, she became a member of the Republican Party . She served on the Harrison Township Township Council in 1979 and 1980 . Between 1980 and 1992 she was township supervisor there. She then served as a treasurer in Macomb County between 1992 and 1994 . From 1994 to 2002 she was Secretary of State of Michigan.

In the 2002 congressional elections , she was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Michigan , where she succeeded David E. Bonior on January 3, 2003 . After six re-elections, she was able to exercise her mandate in Congress until January 3, 2017.

She was a member of the Internal Security Committee and the Transport and Infrastructure Committee, as well as several sub-committees. She was also Chair of the Committee on House Administration . She was previously a member of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming , a special committee that deals with the issue of energy supply and global warming.

Candice Miller is married to Judge Donald Miller, with whom she has a daughter. The couple live in Harrison Township.
