Jack Bergman

John W. "Jack" Bergman (born February 2, 1947 in Shakopee , Scott County , Minnesota ) is an American general and politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of Michigan in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Between 1966 and 1969 Bergman graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter , Minnesota . He also studied at the University of West Florida for some time . Since 1969 he was part of the United States Marine Corps with interruptions . He was trained as an officer at Command and General Staff College and was able to study at Syracuse University for some time . He started out as a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps. He went through all officer ranks up to Lieutenant General (three-star general). In the meantime he also served in the National Guard of Rhode Island and in 1978 he was a civilian pilot with Northwest Airlines . But after these interruptions he kept returning to the Marine Corps. Among other things, he was stationed in Stuttgart during his military service in 1998 . In 2009 he finally resigned from active military service. Today he is President of WINGS Medical Technologies .

Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 2016 Bergman was the first electoral district of Michigan against the Democrats Lon Johnson in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on January 3, 2017 Dan Benishek took, who in 2016 did not stand.
