Gerardina Trovato (born May 27, 1967 in Catania ) is an Italian singer-songwriter and singer.

Life

Gerardina Trovato's father was a doctor in Catania. He played guitar and studied Sicilian folk music . Her mother was a piano teacher. As a child, she received guitar and piano lessons. After graduating from high school, where she learned to be an accountant, Gerardina Trovato went to Rome at the age of 19 and devoted herself to music. At first she worked as a choir singer . Through her acquaintance with the director and screenwriter Pietro Vivarelli , who was also on the jury of the Sanremo Festival for five years , she met the music producer Caterina Caselli of the Sugar label in 1992 . She had her first big success in 1993 with the song Non ho più la mia città , presented at the Sanremo Festival in 1993 .
