Gerd Becht

Gerd T. Becht (born February 11, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German lawyer and was a member of the board of directors of Deutsche Bahn .

Gerd Becht studied law at the Universities of Marburg and Frankfurt am Main. In 1979 he passed his second state examination.

Various activities in national and international law firms and companies followed. Gerd Becht helped former AEG boss Heinz Dürr to reorganize the group for eight years. In 1993, Becht was appointed General Counsel of Adam Opel AG . In 1999 he was appointed Vice President and General Counsel of GM Europe AG in Zurich . He also held various positions within the company, including managing director of GM Europe Holdings SLR

In 2006, Becht moved to DaimlerChrysler AG as chief legal counsel . He was thus responsible for the entire legal affairs of the German-American group. In 2008 he was appointed Senior Vice President - General Counsel in addition to the Chief Compliance Officer of Daimler AG.

On October 16, 2009, Gerd Becht accepted board memberships at Deutsche Bahn AG and DB Mobility Logistics AG. There he was responsible for compliance, data protection, law and corporate security until he was replaced by Ronald Pofalla in 2017 .

Gerd Becht holds a German and an American bar license and has worked in Germany, the USA, France and Switzerland.

Becht is also an honorary member of the international legal honor society Phi Delta Phi .
