Gerd Guglhör

Gerd Guglhör (* 1952 ) is a German conductor and choir director .

Guglhör studied school music from 1973 to 1977 at the Musikhochschule in Munich, where he integrated choral conducting with Kurt Suttner and Max Frey . A master class with Fritz Schieri rounded off his training.

From 1980 to 1995 he directed the large mixed choir of the Academic Choral Society Munich . In 1982 he founded the orpheus chor münchen , a semi-professional ensemble with which he has performed extensive concert activities. There are also competitions, numerous radio recordings and, since 1995, CD productions. Since 1995 he has also directed the Bach Choir and the Fürstenfeldbruck Bach Orchestra , with which he primarily performs the works of Johann Sebastian Bach , but also other great works.

Until February 1993 Gerd Guglhör was a music teacher at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich . Since then, he has been a full-time lecturer for ensemble and choir conducting, voice studies and choral vocal training at the University of Music and Theater in Munich , after having been part-time there since 1986.

Since 1999 he has been the artistic director of the Bavarian Choir Academy, a funding institution of the Bavarian Music Council for young singers, which consists of the Bavarian State Youth Choir and the Bavarian Singing Academy .
