Gerd Springorum (born November 5, 1911 in Halberstadt ; † November 11, 1995 in Bochum ) was a German manager and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1930 at the humanistic grammar school in Halberstadt, Springorum began studying engineering at the Philipps University in Marburg and at the Technical University of Berlin , which he completed in 1935 with the examination to become a graduate engineer (specializing in mining). In Marburg he became a member of the Corps Teutonia Marburg in 1931 . From 1936 to 1938 he worked as a mountain trainee at the Clausthal mining authority and was then appointed as a mountain assessor. From 1939 to 1942 and from 1944 to 1945, interrupted by an activity as a Steiger, he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as lieutenant and battery chief.

After the end of the war, Springorum worked again as a steiger. Via the functions of operations inspector and operations director, he rose to the position of mine director of the Bruchstrasse colliery of Gelsenkirchener Bergwerk AG and held this position until 1960. From 1961 to 1969 he was a board member of Carolinenglück-Graf Moltke Bergbau AG . Since 1970 he has been the mine director of Ruhrkohle AG .

Political party

Springorum joined the CDU in 1959 and was chairman of the CDU local association in Bochum-Langendreer .

MP

Springorum was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1976 . He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1966 to 1977 he was delegated by the Bundestag as a member of the European Parliament . Since 1971 he has been chairman of the committee for energy, research and nuclear issues.
