Gerda Sautter de Hotzen

Gerda Sautter de Hotzen (* 11. October 1921 in Diepholz , † 21st December 2009 in Celle , actually: Gerda Hotzen , born Sautter , also: Gerda Hotzen-Sautter ) was a German sculptor , medals - portraitist and nurse .

In the middle of World War II, Gerda Hotzen attended the Staatliche Holzbildhauerschule Empfershausen / Rhön from 1940 to 1943 and worked as a wood sculptor in Celle from 1945 to 1946. From 1946 to 1949 she studied at the Landeskunstschule Hamburg as a pupil of the sculptor Edwin Scharff . Back in Celle, she worked in a studio from 1949 to 1956 and then emigrated to Mexico .

After her return to Celle in 1964, Gerda Sautter de Hotzen worked there as a nurse, but at times also worked as a medal portraitist. She was a member of the German Society for Medal Art .

Most recently Gerda Hotzen, who died at the age of 88, lived at Wehlstrasse 6 in Celle.
