Gerhard A. Meinl

Gerhard Anton Meinl (born September 5, 1957 in Kempfenhausen ) is a German entrepreneur and local politician ( CSU ).

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Tölz, Meinl studied law and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the Université de Friborg and the Munich School of Philosophy . He then passed both state law exams.

He then completed an apprenticeship as a brass instrument maker and trained as a trumpeter and joined the Wenzel-Meinl company in 1984. He was a wind instrument entrepreneur in the seventh generation of the Meinl-Langhammer family of the company founded in Graslitz in the Sudetenland in 1810 . In 1991 he founded the TA Musik Group and took over the Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik GmbH (VMI) (formerly VEB B&S ) from the Treuhandanstalt . In addition to Wenzel Meinl GmbH , the TA Musik Group also took over the brass instrument manufacturer Antoine Courtois in Amboise near Paris, founded in 1803 , the oboe manufacturer SML Strasser-Marigaux in Paris and the clarinet manufacturer F. Arthur Uebel in Markneukirchen . This group of companies has been operating under JA Musik and the brands Meinl Weston, Melton, Hans Hoyer, B&S, Scherzer and VMI since 2001 . In 2002 the Hungarian Sternberg Kft. (SHM) was taken over. In 2012 Meinl incorporated the company into the French Buffet Group , which became the largest wind instrument manufacturer operating worldwide.

Act

Meinl became a board member in 1986, and later became the association president of the Federal Association of German Musical Instrument Manufacturers (BDMH). He was a board member of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) from 1986 to 1993 and is a board member of the US Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association (TUBA). He is one of the founders of the German Tuba Forum . He holds numerous other honorary positions, such as B. Deputy Chairman of the Foundation of the Frankfurt Music Prize and member of the Presidium of the German Music Council. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Rotary Club Wolfratshausen-Isartal.

He is committed to Catholic social teaching and is a member of the foundation of the Pontifical Fondazione Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP) based in the Vatican . He is a member of the board of trustees at the Institute for Social Sciences Walberberg in Bonn. Since 1976 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Trifels zu Munich in the CV . He is a member of the Teutonic Order .

He was a member of the advisory board of the Asklepios Stadtklinik Bad Tölz (2001–2008). He was chairman (2002–2004) and has been a board member of the aid organization for addicts on the Isar, Lech and Danube since 2004.

politics

Meinl has been a city councilor in Geretsried since 1986 and headed the Geretsried CSU local association from 1986 to 2011. He was second mayor of Geretsried for twelve years.

From 1990 to 2008 he was in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district council and is deputy district chairman of the CSU.
