Gerhard Fischer (born April 17, 1930 in Finow ; † August 9, 2013 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( CDU in the GDR ).

Life

Fischer attended high school and from 1945 the secondary school in Eberswalde . There he led an FDJ group. In 1946 he became a member of the CDU . From 1949 to 1950 he was FDJ district secretary in Eberswalde and in 1950 became head of the FDJ regional association Brandenburg and CDU secretary in the Potsdam district. From 1950 to 1951 he was department head in the CDU Landessekretariat Brandenburg, then until 1953 employee of the CDU head office in Berlin. There he worked with Gerald Götting . From 1951 Fischer was a member of the Presidium of the Kulturbund of the GDR , 1954 to 1956 deputy editor-in-chief of the CDU daily newspaper Neue Zeit . From 1955 to 1961 he completed a distance learning course at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , which he completed as a journalist. From 1957 to 1969 Fischer was secretary and from 1958 to 1989 a member of the main board of the CDU. On November 28, 1969, he was with a dissertation on the history of the CDU press at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. From 1970 he headed a scientific working group for the chairman of the CDU. From 1986 he was honorary professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1987 to 1989 he was a member of the presidium of the main board of the CDU, in 1990 he was disabled.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Fischer became a member of the board of the Society for the Protection of Civil Rights and Human Dignity eV (GBM) and the editor in charge of her monthly magazine akzente . He was also the first speaker of the Berlin Alternative History Forum and a member of the Association of Friends of the Peoples of Russia . In 1990, Fischer was one of the founders of the League of Antifascists in the GDR. Since 2008, Fischer has been the national spokesman for the VVN-BdA .

He was buried in Berlin with the rites of the Freemasons in cemetery IV of the St. Hedwigsgemeinde and cemetery of the St. Piusgemeinde in Berlin-Alt-Hohenschönhausen .
