Gerhard Graml

Gerhard Graml (born April 16, 1963 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian jazz bassist, band leader, composer and music teacher.

Life

Graml received piano and bass lessons in his youth. He studied double bass at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and jazz bass at the Vienna Conservatory. From 2000 to 2004 he taught at the Portland Conservatory of Music and Bowdoin College. He lives with his family in Vienna and Maine / USA.

Since 1995, Graml has led the Lunapark jazz formation . He was a member of the jungle orchestra and worked with the musicians Don Preston , Gary Wittner, Lena Rothstein, Louie Austen, Wolfgang Fadi Dorninger, Pro Brass, Open Art Band, Herb Pomeroy , Brad Terry , Tom Snow, Christian Mühlbacher's Nouvelle Cuisine , Uli Scherer , Marios & Julie, Dhafer Youssef , Herwig Gradischnig and Andy Manndorff together. His Three Dances for Very Fine Music Ensemble, Samples and Low Budget Jazz Band were premiered by the ensemble . He gave concerts with the beat poet Ruth Weiss at the JazzFest Berlin . He has performed on tours and concerts in Europe, the USA, North Africa, Israel and Indonesia.

Since 2005 he has presented the Ö1 Jazz Night and various jazz programs such as Milestones , On stage and Spielraum on Austrian radio for ORF .

In addition, he has been at the German International School Washington DC since January 2018 . active where he teaches music and German.
