Gerhard Hirschmann (born March 27, 1993 ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). From December 17, 2019 to March 24, 2020, he was a member of the Styrian state parliament .

Life

Gerhard Hirschmann became a member of the municipal council in Heiligenkreuz am Waasen after the municipal council election in 2015 . From November 2017 to October 2019 he was an employee of the National Councilor Josef Riemer in the FPÖ parliamentary club . In March 2019, Hirschmann was elected as the successor to Riemer as FPÖ district party chairman in the Leibnitz district. Since June 2019 he has also been Deputy Chairman of the Ring of Freedom Youth (RFJ) in Styria .

In the 2019 state elections , he ran for 18th place on the state list and behind top candidate Mario Kunasek in second place in the state electoral district 3 (West Styria). On December 17, 2019 he was at the beginning of the XVIII. Legislative term as Member of the state parliament of Styria sworn where he a member of the committees for emergency situations, control, climate change, Europe and Constitution. In the FPÖ state parliament club, he was responsible for the areas of youth, human rights, the environment and climate protection as well as addiction issues and drugs.

In the course of the reports about those who ignore the exit restrictions, a " Corona party " with loud music by four men on March 21, 2020 in a club in Heiligenkreuz am Waasen was reported. One of these four was Hirschmann, who, like the others, was subsequently reported by the police. In addition to sharp criticism from other parties, he was also warned internally. Thereupon Hirschmann announced his resignation from all political functions on March 24th because he was "no longer able to continue his political activity seriously in the sense of the FPÖ". On April 7, 2020, Helga Kügerl moved to the vacated space in the state parliament . Hirschmann remained a councilor in Heiligenkreuz am Waasen. Just one month later, on May 9th, he presented himself again on the Heiligenkreuzer FPÖ's Facebook page as district party chairman and its top candidate for the 2020 municipal council elections in Styria . The criminal case against Hirschmann was discontinued. In the constituent meeting on July 23, 2020, he was elected as the community treasurer of Heiligenkreuz am Waasen.
