Gerhard Kilger

Gerhard Kilger (* 1946 in Tübingen ) is a German physicist , freelance artist and lecturer in lithography . Until 2013 he was director of the DASA - Working World Exhibition in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Gerhard Kilger grew up in Tübingen. After completing his school education, he studied physics and philosophy at the Universities of Freiburg and Tübingen from 1967 to 1974 . He then worked from 1974 to 1980 as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Physics at the University of Tübingen , where he dealt in particular with the establishment and management of a semiconductor internship as well as research in the field of microminiaturization for the manufacture of semiconductor chips . In 1980 he did his doctorate at the Institute for Applied Physics with a dissertation on electron beam lithography .

Kilger has also worked as a freelance artist since 1972. He also taught and teaches as a part-time lecturer in lithography at the European Summer Academy in Trier as well as at the University of Tübingen and the artists' houses in Heidelberg, Mannheim and Tübingen.

From 1980 to 1988 he was first curator and later chief curator at the State Museum for Technology and Work (since 2010: Technoseum ) in Mannheim . In 1988 he became director of the German Labor Exhibition in Dortmund, which is part of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health , and holds the position until 2013. During his term of office, the further development and the extensive expansion of the exhibition , which has appeared as the DASA - Working World Exhibition since 2000 , fall . The federal institution with an exhibition area of ​​approx. 13,000  has since been one of the “largest and most modern technology museums in Germany”. Since 2001 Kilger has organized the annual scenography colloquium at DASA. Since 2014 he has been the initiator and head of the scenography summit, in which important experts from museums, universities and design offices are represented.

Kilger is a member of the advisory board of the DFB-Stiftung Deutsches Fußballmuseum gGmbH, which is entrusted with the content and construction planning of the German Football Museum.
