Gerhard Knogler

Gerhard Knogler (* 1943 in Ort im Innkreis ) is an Austrian sculptor and university professor .

Live and act

Knogler studied from 1961 to 1968 at the art school of the city of Linz with Alfons Ortner and Helmuth Gsöllpointner . From 1975 to 2005 he taught there. Since 2000 he has been an associate professor in the metal master class. He lives and works in Linz and has been a member of the MAERZ artists' association since 1971 .

With his drawings, objects and works, Knogler moves in the border area between visual arts and literature. Works by him are in the art collection of the province of Upper Austria. In 2013, works by him were presented alongside those by Armin Andraschko and Ewald Walser at the Linz art fair in the Landesgalerie Linz. Gerhard Knogler created sculptures for public spaces, including the quiet zone in 1969 , an abstract work of art for the Catholic student dormitory in Linz, and in 1982 the steel plastic cigarette box , together with Karl-Heinz Klopf for the tobacco factory in Linz .
