Gerhard Kreysa

Gerhard Kreysa (born September 21, 1945 in Dresden ) is a German chemist and was managing director of DECHEMA until 2009 .

Live and act

Gerhard Kreysa studied chemistry from 1964 to 1969 at the Technical University of Dresden , where he received his doctorate from Professor Kurt Schwabe at the "Institute for Physical and Electrochemistry" in 1970 . From 1973 to 1978 he worked as a research assistant at DECHEMA in Frankfurt (Main) .

In 1978 he was at the University of Dortmund habilitation . He was then appointed head of the “ Electrochemistry ” working group at the DECHEMA Institute. Before he was appointed Deputy Managing Director of DECHEMA in 1986, he took up his unscheduled professorship at the University of Dortmund in 1985 . From 1990 to 1998 he was chairman of the board of the Kurt Schwabe Foundation .

From 1992 to 2009 Gerhard Kreysa was managing director of DECHEMA. In addition to his work as managing director, he was chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Dresden-Rossendorf research center until 2000 . From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of the executive committee, from 1997 to 2002 deputy chairman of the Scientific Council of the AiF . Gerhard Kreysa has been a member and chairman of the University Council of Clausthal University of Technology since 2000 and a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering (IVA) in Stockholm since 2003 .

Prizes and awards

Gerhard Kreysa is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) .
