Gerhard Kubach

Gerhard "Kubi" Kubach (* 1955 in Berlin ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , also bass guitar ).

Kubach, who has been a founding member of Bajazzo since 1978 , studied double bass and bass guitar from 1979 to 1983 at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin . In 1983 the first recordings with Bajazzo were made , which were recorded on the Amiga sampler Kleeblatt No. 8: Jazz here and today are documented; with the group, which temporarily appeared with Pascal von Wroblewsky , he recorded their first regular album in 1987.

In the following years he was a member of Helmut Forsthoff's trio and Hannes Zerbe's brass band ( Rondo a la Fried 1992), with whom he also toured. He also accompanied Wroblewsky in their own band and was involved in the recording of their albums Give and Take and Speak Low in 1995 . He then played in Dudu Tucci's Odudua , the New Pulse Quartet and the WJO Orchestra .

In 2007 Kubach founded the modern jazz trio 105 Lenz Kubach Johnson with Uli Lenz and drummer Zam Johnson , which was on tour in Libya in 2013. He has also played in Friedhelm Schönfeld's trio for just as long , with whom several albums were created and which was also expanded into a quartet and performed with Zbigniew Namysłowski . Furthermore, in recent years he has worked in various line-ups of Ekkehard Jost (with whom he can also be heard on phonograms), but also in the African Chase Experience , the Anatolian Jazz Orchestra and Indigo Masala .
