Gerhard Noller

Gerhard Noller (born June 18, 1922 in Langenburg ; † February 24, 1999 ) was a German theologian and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1940, Noller took part in the Second World War as a soldier. He began studying theology while being a prisoner of war in England, which he completed in 1951 in Tübingen . From 1954 on, Noller taught Protestant religion in Reutlingen . In 1960 he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD.

politics

Motivated by the example of Gustav Heinemann , Noller joined the SPD in the 1950s . From 1962 to 1980 he was a member of the Reutlingen municipal council and from 1965 to 1989 the district council of the Reutlingen district . Between 1968 and 1972 Noller was also district chairman of the Reutlingen SPD.

In 1968, Gerhard Noller was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg through a second mandate from the Reutlingen constituency, to which he belonged for three legislative periods until 1980. His main areas of work in the state parliament were cultural and educational policy. In the 1970s Noller was critical of the then SPD state chairman Erhard Eppler , as he felt his political approach to be too theoretical and ideological.
