Gerhard Schreiber (folklorist)
Gerhard Schreiber (born August 17, 1939 in Vienna , † July 26, 2010 in Vienna) was an Austrian crib collector and researcher.
Life
Gerhard Schreiber began as an agricultural apprentice, studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and graduated with a degree in engineering . As an agricultural technical expert, he worked for the Lower Austrian provincial government, which awarded him the official title of Hofrat . He was a researcher and collector of folk art , especially for nativity scenes and nativity scenes from around the world. His collection consists of over a thousand nativity scenes.
He was the organizer and scientific supervisor of exhibitions as well as an honorary advisor and contributor to associations and church institutions. On the occasion of the Lower Austrian Provincial Exhibition Austria. Czech Republic. divided - separated - united , an exhibition of Czech and Austrian cribs was put together.
Gerhard Schreiber was married to Hiltigund Schreiber . He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
